A Girl, A Fishing Pole, The Kenai River = Sockeye Salmon

Today was a fantastic day. I headed down to the river in hopes of catching salmon and that's just what I did! I wanted a picture of me with a fish on but hubby couldn't work the camera and the net at the same time Humph!

Missing a Bloggy Friend !!!!

I started blogging about 7 months ago, and it was all new to me. I looked at tons of blogs and found great people I connected with, and have made some new friends. I can make friends easy and love the fact that we all support each other pray for each other and laugh and cry together. I met this lady that I quickly clicked with and she is a joy to know in a huge way, she has touched my life in many ways, more than she probably knows. Well for some reason and I'm sure a good one she has not blogged in over a month. She is taking a bloggy break. I miss her so much and hope and pray she is doing okay in her life.
I know people have seasons of friendships and friends come and go in our lives but darn I wasn't ready for her to slip away just yet. I pray for her and her family daily and hope to hear from her again someday and will be so excited to hear from her again.

So where ever you are out there, beautiful lady just know you are being thought of and prayed for daily.

Hugs
Rockin Robyn

I'm participating in a year long challenge, created by Carin. The goal is to be in one picture a week, for 52 weeks. Since us moms are always behind the camera, this gives us a chance to get out in front and be in the pictures with our family. Fun challenge, right? You can join too! Just jump in right now and let me know you're playing along! Carin has added a Mr. Linky on Thursdays...so that we can check out each others pictures.

Wordless Wednesday~~ Iris My Favorite

Random Tuesday Thoughts

The chiropractor I have been seeing uses the activator method, and that is helping me in a huge way. By the x-rays taken she says that my spine is straight up and down and has no natural curve. She is not sure why it is like this but hopes to help me get my curve back. For more info on this method you can see at www.activator.com. I have been going to her 3 days a week now and I can tell a difference.

I can only work 4 hours a day right now and I took that note to my boss and he said he doesn't have any 4 hour shifts for me. So I have been off work now for a little over a week. Mind you I have been loyal to them and I know other ladies who only work 4 hours. So while I'm off I have been looking for another job, maybe one that won't be so hard on my back.

Last Thursday I went on a little road trip with my Daughter Lora to Homer, we had a wonderful time. Shopped the little shops and ended our evening in a wonderful restaurant called Cafe Cups. We had the best dinner I think I have ever had since I moved to Alaska 8 years ago. Our appetizer was a seafood pot, which had, steamer clams, muscles, crab, scallops, shrimp, oysters, halibut and salmon. Then my dinner was a fettuccine with steamer clams, scallops and shrimp in it, the sauce was a bleu cheese and apple mix. Oh Yum!

While I was off with Lora my hubby went dip netting with a couple friends and brought home 42 sockeye salmon, which they cleaned and shared between the 2 of them. So Friday we canned 20 pints and 15 half pints, to put up for winter, and then Saturday Hubby smoked the rest in the smoker. Ahhhhhhhhh Alaskan life!

Saturday my Son and I went to the progress day's parade and met my Daughter Rachel and Granddaughter there, great parade and then went to the river front park for a Reindeer hot dog, music and to look at the local people wares they were selling.

Today we are suppose to grab our fishing poles and head to the river for some fishing, hopefully we all get some action as I would like to do a bit more canning. Between Hubby, son and I we can come home with 9 more fish, if they jump on our hooks.

Yikes I can't believe that there is only 27 days left of our summer vacation and school starts. I better start thinking about school clothes for the kid!

Okay I'm done rambling now so Be sure to go visit the Queen of RTT ~~~ the one and only Keely!!! She's always got something interesting going on at her place. Sign up with Mr. Linky while you're there and give RTT a whirl!

Wordless Wednesday~~ Kissy Kissy

Tuesday's Random Thoughts

My Sister sent me a beautiful well put together photo album she made through shutterfly for my birthday. Although my birthday isn't until next month, I am very excited and show it off every chance I get. Thank-you Sissy!

My back has still be hurting me, last week I went in for x-rays and the Doc says I have arthritis in my lower back but that should not be causing this much pain. I worked 9 hours Sunday and it was beyond busy, by the time I got home I could hardly move. So back to the doc yesterday and he took me off work, and gave me some pain meds to deal with it. Plus he wanted to do blood work to make sure nothing is wrong with my kidneys or liver. Well the stupid girl tried 3 times in different places to get blood and struck out. I told her 3 strikes your out! So now I have to call them and ask to be sent to the hospital for them to try and get my blood. UGH! Now Wednesday I have a chiropractor appt to see it they can give me any relief.

Depending on how I'm feeling I'm suppose to go on a small road trip with my daughter Lora on Thursday to Homer. We have had it planned for almost a month now to go down there and shop and have dinner, just a Mom ,Daughter get away for the day. I'm hoping that the chiropractor can give me enough relief to make this trip.

Our new dog Rikki is fitting into our home perfectly and we took her in to get fixed last week. I do not want puppy's and she hadn't been fixed yet. So she is recovering from that nicely. She is such a good girl, listens to every word, does not leave the yard and minds beyond belief.

I know there is fish in the river and because of my back I cannot go fishing this is making my mind crazy! I love fishing and the sockeye are in that river dang it!

Okay Okay enough of my ramblings, Have a beautiful day!

My Boy and His Burger

A few nights ago we went out to dinner with our friends visiting from Arizona. We went to a place called "The Bears Den". They have a huge burger and my son needed this burger to make him happy, as burgers are his favorite food......LOL So below is a picture of his burger with my cell phone on top to show just how big the burger really is.

He needed to pick it up and eat it as is with out cutting it. Look at that silly face of his taking the first bite. And yes being a teenage boy he ate the whole thing. Our friends were impressed.....LOL

On a side note my Friday shoot out is going to be a day late this week. I have been so busy and need to go get pictures after work today.

This May Be Boring I Know

1. I didn't get around to the Friday shoot out this week. I have been busy and this last weeks slipped me by.
2. I feel like I'm in a blogging slump and not sure what to blog about. I kind of feel boring these days.
3. We had company from Arizona for a few days. A dear friend of the family is traveling Alaska and made it to Soldotna, we had a big family BBQ Friday night. That was a blast and it was great to see her after 9 years of being apart. I do have pictures to share when I have more time to organize them and blog about it.
4. I have been working a lot and it seems to swallow me up, and take my time away, usually tired and have other chores to do on my days off.
5. Oh yeah and we just got a dog, my hubby broke down and let my son get a half Sheppard and husky female year and a half old dog, named Rikki. She is pretty darn cute and has great manners. So next on my list of things to do is get her fixed, which I will call today for an appt. No puppy's here!!
6. My Daughter Lora called last night and says she wants to take me on a mini road trip next week to Homer, to do a little shopping and out to a nice dinner. Just a girls day/night out. I'm looking forward to that since I haven't really been anywhere all summer.
Well that about sums it up for now. Have a happy week!

Fire and Smoke

I awoke this morning to the smell of something burning, looked outside and man the sun is a ball of red and I mean it looks like a flaming red ball in the sky. It smells so awful here it makes me sick to my stomach! We have 70 fires burning in the state of Alaska right now, the winds are bringing the smoke our direction. It looks like we are fogged in with smoke. Not that there is much wind down low but it must be coming our way up high. Here is a new paper article on the fires and what is happening. http://www.adn.com/news/environment/fire/story/858338.html
Please pray for all these firefighters in doing their job as safe as they can and that they get some of these fires out as quick as they can.
I tried to take some pictures of the red ball in the sky and for some reason my camera does not want to pick up the intensity of it.

It's A Random Kind Of Day

Our weather has been very nice here and I am loving it. For our neck of the woods being in the 80's is a treat, and that's just what's it been for a few days now.

I work today and then have the next 2 off. Looking forward to enjoying some sun!

My silly Sister says she has already ordered my birthday gift and it is being shipped to me. I'm very excited to get whatever it is coming my way. Heads up my birthday is not until August 19th......LOL

School starts here next month and I will have to admit that I'm looking forward to it.

Hubby is grumpy today and man is it hard for me not to pick up on his vibe!

My car needs washed hmmm take it to the car wash or do it myself, wow choices!

A Huge Thank You & My 4th.

First off I would like to Thank Kelly at Our Family Ramblings for picking my name for her blogiversary. I won this very cool 3.5 digital photo picture frame. It came in the mail on Friday, but I didn't think there was mail service on Friday because of the holiday. I found it waiting for me in the mail box yesterday.I can't wait to get pictures on there and start showing off my favorite photo's to everyone! Thank you so much Kelly!

My Silly little Grandkids came for a BBQ yesterday and when I finally remembered to pull out the camers this is what they gave me..........LOL
I worked yesterday and then came home to my Daughter and Grand kids here. It was a great evening and lots of good food. My other daughter and her family took my son that still lives at home and went camping in Homer so it was kind of a quiet night with just a little family here but was great fun and lots of kid play!

Happy 4th Of July

I hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July. Enjoy your day and take time to remember those serving in the military for our freedoms.
I have to work today and then this evening our Daughter Lora and her 2 girls are coming for a BBQ. Her husband is away on the slope working his 2 weeks on right now.
Since it doesn't get totally dark here at night there will be no fireworks. Something I have gotten use to from living in Alaska for 9 years.

Enjoy and be safe!
