It's A Random Kind Of Day!

I'm so excited I won a blog make over from Jacki's blog in celebration of her 100th post. She was so kind to have a giveaway and I WON! Jill will be doing my make over when she has me scheduled in and I'm looking forward to a new look. I hope she doesn't get tired of me asking questions and not knowing what I'm talking about really. Lets just say, if it's not a simple computer operation I have no clue what I'm talking about. Yes with me it's just simple stuff that I know about...lol
Friday I took a 3 hour nap when I was suppose to be doing homework, I was so tired I couldn't hold my head up. Then Saturday I did the same thing took another 3 hour nap. I guess I needed the extra sleep cause I usually don't nap like that. Adjusting to getting up early again with back to school, and my classes themselves.
Friday Night my Brother in law came over with his fundraiser paperwork from NTAF asking me to please help in a fundraiser for his kidney transplant. I looked over the paperwork and told him I would do the best I can. So now I have added this into my days of finding out information and trying to put a few things together. Thank you to all that have responded to my last post, with idea's. I'll keep you posted along my journey of fundraising.
My first week back to school was awesome, I'm finding that my English class is going to be a lot of hard work, and my sign language class with be tons of fun learning, work but not to hard really. I'm lucky to have a great study partner too, my daughter Rachel is in both my classes. Yes it's a Mother/ daughter team this term. I Love It!
Oh and Friday night my son(15) went to his first school dance. He was so excited and nervous, he said "Mom my heart is pounding so fast and I'm sweaty I've never felt like this before"....LOL
So I calmed him down and off he went to have a great time. Waaa my baby is growing up!
It's hard for me to believe that tomorrow is September 1st. Where has time gone? The fall colors are coming out and the fireweed is starting to blow it wishy seeds as I call it. Before I know it, it will be snowing and the temps will be dipping down. Ahhhh another cold Alaskan winter. Better start thinking about getting those Studded tires on, I'm guessing they will be on by October 1st, maybe a tad bit later but not much.
Well enough random said, I hope everyone has a beautiful week, and check back now and again for my new bloggy look.
Blessings!

My Head is Reeling With Feelings

My Brother in law came over tonight to ask a big favor of me. He is sick and needs a kidney transplant. He has been going to Anchorage 3 times a week for dialysis, mind you this is a 145 miles away one way. His kidney's are only working at 25% at the moment. He is on a very restricted diet and can only drink a very limited amount of fluids a day. He has no insurance to cover the meds he has to take and that's 300 a month every month. This means he has to come up with 5000 before they will even put him on the list for a new kidney.
So what he wants me to do is a fundraiser of some sort. I told him I would look over all the info he brought me and do what I can.
Have any of you ever done a fundraiser of this sort? Have any idea's?

Oh and if you would like to donate go to http://www.transplantfund.org/ and in the yellow box type in the last name Simons and in the box type (it's a drop down) go to kidney and his page will pop up for a donation. If any of you donate thank you very much for helping my family and life it's self.

Noooooo Not Yet!

I bet you don't have any trees or shrubs that looks like this at your house yet!
Well here in Alaska it is officially Fall! The leaves are starting to turn, the mornings are brisk, and I know before long the snow will start to fall. The fireweed has hit the tops but haven't started to blow wishies from them yet, but that is soon to come.

These pictures were taken 10 minutes ago from the sides of my driveway.
Oh the colors of fall, although I know what it means, I will have to say is my favorite time of the year.

Wow I'm Going Random~~Messy

Wow so far the month of August has been busy, a bit of a blur and moody for me.
I know I haven't blogged much this month but I have tried many times and sat here with my new post open and thought to my self if you don't have anything good to say and all you want to do it bitch don't post anything at all. I think I'm finally coming out of my busy funk!

The 12th and 13th of the month we went to Anchorage school clothes shopping and spent the night in a hotel. The big city anymore give me the willies! We did enjoy our time and got all the school clothes and supplies my son needed. We had a nice dinner out and after dinner my son and I went to the pool and hot tub at the hotel. It was so much fun to play in the water with him and relax. The next morning we headed down to the restaurant and had made to order free breakfast. That was so yummy, omelet, a pancake, with coffee and juice. Good thing they didn't lock the door when they saw my teen coming for breakfast. He ate until full and if you have teen boys you know being full can take a lot of food and time...LOL

The 19th of this month was my 44th birthday, seems pretty weird that I'm 44, my mind and heart feel younger than that. Although sometimes my body feels older. It was an alright day, as usual Hubby didn't to a thing for me....Long story there. My Sister sent me these great fuzzy lined croc's and man let me tell you they are the best!!! My friend Alice and I went out to lunch, which was yummy!

Saturday the 22nd we went to the fair and enjoyed ourselves and had yummy fair food. I'm sure you have seen my post and pictures about that.

Yesterday was my baby's first day of high school, that's a hard one to swallow. But then again 2 of my granddaughters went to kindergarten yesterday also. Quite the mix I would say.

Now today it is back to college classes for me. I have 2 classes this term. English and American sign language. I'm looking forward to this term and I'm sure homework will keep me busy. Oh and the cool part about it is my daughter Rachel is taking the same classes with me. So we will be the Mother/Daughter team.

Okay that about sums it up for the Month of August for me, thanks for hanging in there and not exiting out of my blog thinking this chick is so boring.

Have a Blessed day!

Little Country Fair

Saturday we headed out to the little country fair in Ninilchik. We go every year and it is one of my favorite places to go. We always start off with a great spicy reindeer hot dog with grilled onions. I just love food at the fair.

This is Alex cooking his dogs and grilled onions. Mmm mmm good!
Then we always walk through the animals to see what the 4-H kids are doing and how well they take care of their animals.

On these pictures I'm sure you can tell I LOVE cows. I think they are so cute!

Wanna kiss that big sloppy nose?

Dig the earrings!

These kids were singing Credence Clear waters Have you ever seen rain. They were awesome. I love watching kids preform!

This young lady made fireweed Jelly and gave a step by step instruction board on how to make it.

A Nine year old drew this picture and I really like it!

Last but not least my son and I with our fair goodies. He always has to have a Carmel apple and I have to have Cotton candy. That makes the fair complete!

Alaskan Fireweed

Close-up of an Alaskan Fireweed plant. Named for the striking blooms on tall stalks, Fireweed is probably the best known wildflower in Alaska. Patches of fireweed can be seen growing throughout Alaska's more temperate regions.
In mid to late summer fireweed begins blooming in the middle of the stalk, with each successive flower blooming just above the one before it. As the last flowers are blooming at the top of the stalk, the earliest blooms seed and turn to cotton, as seen below. When the fireweed turns to cotton, Alaskans say there are about six weeks until winter begins.
Here's a little history of the fireweed in my yard!

Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

It is not me who has been in a funky mood for a couple weeks now. Seems as if every little thing bugs me!

It's so not like me to sit and read a good book for hours on end until the pages go blurry! It's Nicholas Sparks "Three Weeks With My Brother" . I really don't recommend this one....LOL

It's not me who has to travel 145 miles one way sometime this week week to get school supplies and school clothes for my son who goes back to school on the 24th. Our town only has one place to shop for stuff like that and I refuse to have him dressed like everyone else.

It really is not me who is still having back problems, the chiropractor is adjusting my back 3 times a week and it feels good but then pops back out right away. I really don't like the fact of getting older which reminds me.................

It is so not my birthday in 9 days..................UGH another year older!!!

This week has been a busy week and I have not taken my camera out of my purse for anything. I guess some weeks are like that, so I leave you this picture of me taken a couple years ago.
